There are rumours that Flavio Briatore could buy Renault and run his own Formula One Team in 2010. After many years running successfully with Briatore it would appear Renault are looking for an exit strategy because of the political unrest over the cost cutting by the FIA for 2010. Also Alonso is supposed to have a deal with Ferrari for 2010 onwards… However I believe they have a contract stating Alonso will go to Ferrari when Kimi Raikkonen leaves and he can have clear number one status.
If Briatore does take over from Renault it is likely they will still continue to provide engines to Formula One teams probably including Briatore’s team. This would enable Renault to continue engine development and world exposure.
